Same for me. Got this error since release. I tried also different graphic modes, fullscreen, windowed..steam new install, game new install, firewall on router and windows off, antivir off, drivers r uptodate, different servers, verified files, started as admin...nothing didnt rly work. I also cant see any ping from server. Sometimes if i try to switch between my lvl1 chars, i get server error. Something is definitely wrong with connection. My other games working without any problems. I found out that if i push start blue loading circle moves by showing me "creating new game", but after that, the next screen is about 0,5 sec and this loading circle doesnt move at all. Then i get blackscreen with mouse cursor.I can move mouse cursor. My game doesnt crash, just blackscreen. I can only push alt+f4 to come out.

Another update:

I created another character in Online Mode. They were able to access the storyline without issue. They were also able to access the Champions side of endgame as well. If I swap back to my original character the black screen returns.

I think it is fair to say that this is in the Dev's hands at this point as it is now looking like it is not something on my system and is now looking like something within the Online Mode database.

If any Dev's or CM's monitor this forum, assistance would be greatly appreciated as well as this will serve as a head's up that it looks like there is further potential corruption somewhere within the Online Mode Character game files.

Off to give up on my rather well geared lvl 59 and start over...

Offline mode works really fine. Online, when i click play i got a black screen after the Wolcen Logo.

nothting worked so far:
- waiting for (10) 30 minutes
- deleting game settings folder
- turning off antivirus
- (opening ports 32600-32602 UDP) completely turning off firewall
- turning off all overlays (nvidia, steam)
- switching to windowed mode
- running game with admin rights and/or in windows 8 comp. mode
- turn settings to low
- disabling vsync
- repairing through steam
- reinstalling the game
- clean install of video drivers
- jumping around my pc...

I bought the game yesterday on steam, and in the beginning it went wrong, the video stops and the sound continues to be heard, and sometimes it doesn't go either. When he walks a few minutes and hangs up, he returns me to the character selection screen.

My setup is

FX 4350
GTX 1060
16 GB of Ram
SSD 480 GB

What I tried:
1 Update drivers
2 Turn off the antivirus
3 Modify the virtual system memory
4 Try different video settings and resolutions, full screen and window mode.
5 On Windows 10 and Windows 7
6 Empty Steam cache
7 Validate files from Steam
8 And finally reinstall the game

In all cases the result was the same, sometimes it takes a few minutes and sometimes not 1 minute. Then hangs ingame or is left on black screen after the kinematics.

I would like to know if they have already found a solution and are working on it or not. To find out if I expect or request a refund today.

Just a heads up of my crashing issues and what, so far, has worked for me, my specs are:

Intel 5930 OC@4ghz
32gb ram
1080ti with the lastest drivers 450.12 no OC
500gb ssd (not system drive)
144hz 1920 x 1080 panel primary display, 3440 x 1440 panel ultrawide secondary display (Game running on the primary display)

I was initially getting black screens during gameplay and cutscenes but the patch on the 15th I think fixed those, at least they'd stopped anyway, and I was just getting game freezes during cutscenes and gameplay with the sound still playing but the game was unresponsive, in game I was running with vsync enable at 144hz, I disabled vsync in game and set it to 60fps and the game ran fine and only crashed when I alt - tabbed out of the game,

I've not tried running the game on the ultrawide monitor but I'll try it at some point and see how it runs.

Sadly it appears that there are multiple reasons for the "black screen". I wish it actually provided some form of logging to identify something, or anything beyond "its broke". I do not live in Germany so the Germany focused "fix" from the thread Tosch linked did not work nor did the last patch fix anything.

Only one of my online characters is experiencing the black screen despite all having access to the city building aspect of things which is what others speculated was the root cause.

I just wish Wolcen had a better way of submitting issues like this as given there is only one CM, it does not give off a great feeling that pleas are being heard, especially with problems like this that seem to have many possible ways to trigger.

@Wolcen Devs/CM, if you have any interest in seeing further evidence of this flavor of the black screen bug I can replicate it at will as it is persistent and not intermittent.

So this problem still exists despite the last few patches and references to black screen fixes. With there being no "trouble ticket" sort of implementation how can I get even acknowledgement let alone resolution to this? I really do not want to loose the gear and time spent on the character that has this problem but it is starting to seem that way.

I feel you. I'm having exactly the same problem. Infinite Black Screen on a specific character. New / Other characters work perfectly fine in any sort of mode. Sitting in the same boat as you - don't wanna give up my functioning level 71 boy. So I'm kinda looking around for fixes. Didn't find anything that worked so far.
Some people suggested to create/join public games or let other ppl complete a mission etc. Nothing worked.

How did that bug start for you? I don't remember exactly what I was doing - probably some random mission board thing and then it started to get laggy - had 1 disconnect and ever since that character is kinda "dead".
