[Black Screen Issue] - Some news from Wolcen Team

Hey!

As you may know, and as it may touch you as well, there's actually a pretty huge bug on Wolcen leading to a neverending black screen, that mostly happen right after the game crashed. The game just do not load after the "Children's of Heimlock" wallpaper, and you only have your cursor and FPS on top left. No sound, no screen, nothing else... I've seen many players affected by this, as I am affected as well, and with no reply from Wolcen team...
There you go: I do have a reply (yay!).
I'm in contact with Wolcen Community Manager in order to fix this bug as soon as possible, and I gave him every known details about the current situation, including details on my character, what was the situation when this bug started, what is my Gate of Fates, etc etc. Everything. We also tried a few things together (that did not worked, sadly) in order to have more information for devs.
So here is my point: it's going on the good way. They know that this bug exist, they know what are the details on my char so they can trace where the bug come from, and they also know what I tried and did not worked.

Things I've tried to resolve this bug:
-Verify files in Steam
-Uninstall/Reinstall the game
-Switch server In Game
-Use of a VPN
-Log in the game with friends
-Start an expedition with another character and friends, and try to switch in the middle of it
-Wait in the main menu while friends are finishing an expedition
-Make some changes on settings: screen resolution, FPS limit, graphic quality, etc
-Launch the game in fullscreen, borderless, windowed
-Delete the folders "cache" and "profiles" in game files

If any of you have this blackscreen and tried something I didn't, and that isn't mentioned here, please let me know so I can transfer to Community Manager. I'm adding a personal question: what kind of character were you playing? I was going for a big tank myself, and two other guy I spoke with that had this bug were going on tank as well.

Wolcen devs are working on it and we can hope for this to be fixed as soon as possible!

I ha(d) a 82 lvl warrior, Bleeding edge build (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3_Vk_6I0cQ&t=7s exactly following this build, even tho i have 3-4 friends who use this, and they dont have problems.. so i guess is not a node/passive skill problem)
i think i was doing a 187 lure untained..
On top of everything you did i gave my account to a friend who was logging from same country (italy) and she coulnd't log in aswell with my Char.. so i guess is not a local file problem.

Vous allez trouvez ça fou mais, impossible de me connecter en utilisant ma connexion internet VDSL (Buygue Télécom / BBox). Mais je n'est plus cet écran noir en utilisant la connexion 4G (de chez Free) de mon téléphone.
Et cela fait 2 jours que je joue tranquilement en 4G. Aucun problème ! si cela peu vous aider ;)
Notre adresse IP a t elle été blacklistée ? Notre fournisseur d'accèse à internet a t'il été blacklisté ? Notre fournisseur d'accèse à internet a t'il blacklisté les serveur de Wolcen ?

And I've been playing quietly in 4G for 2 days. No problem ! if that can help you ;)

Merci pour ton retour ! Effectivement, c'est assez bizarre que ça marche... Parce que, pour le coup, ça vient certainement pas d'un blacklist quelconque, que ce soit l'adresse IP ou le fournisseur, puisque je peux connecter mes autres personnages sans aucun problème. Il n'y a que le premier, mon main, qui soit en blackscreen... Alors qu'un blacklist devrait logiquement bloquer juste tout le compte, et donc tout les persos.
Et le joueur qui a commenté juste avant toi a visiblement fait passer son compte à une amie, donc logiquement pas la même adresse IP, et ça ne fonctionne pas non plus. A moins d'un blacklist précis d'un seul perso... ?

EDIT: J'ai tracé un petit peu tes messages, et apparemment c'est pas certain que tu ai le même bug que moi/nous. Tu as reçu des messages d'erreurs qui ne sont jamais apparus chez moi, tu as réussi à te connecter à d'autres serveurs alors que chez moi y'a rien à faire... A voir. Je test ta solution de mon côté demain, dans le cas où ça marche je fais remonter au Community Manager !

C'est vraiment étrange ce problème.

Well, what I can say about that is when the problem begin I had changed my build for a counter warrior with shield(I was a Plague Mage), after the test I just logout and next day when tried connect the issue has begun. A friend of mine that play with me had the same problem in the morning, but soon at evening the problem disappears for him. We had tested the same solutions, but we don't know why it only normalized his game. He is a Elemental Mage, so I really don't believe that the problem lies in some character building option. The issue started with the new patch, I think they need investigate the patch changes at servers, and as far as I know, these problems have been reported in players who play on SA and Americas. My friend for example managed to connect to the US server when I was having the problem, but with a very high ping, I tried and I was unable to log into any other server. I've tried everything you mentioned too.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I am very disappointed with the game staff who did not show up here for us to give any feedback, at least the offline is normal.

I, and the creator of the post, are both french so it's not only a bug about NA. And yeah, having absolutely no word from the game staff is insanely frustrating, it feels like they don't care anymore since they got the money, and there's no need to give a real support to players.
Just a 2 lines post to tell us they're working on it, or even adding it to the known-issues list, would be enough, but they chose to ignore the players instead.

What I see out of your comment is that your friend and you might had different bugs as well? It's pretty hard to know since it's blackscreen for both, but I never, absolutely never managed to connect my character into another server or whatever, even with waiting 7 hours or trying 50 attempt. I don't know, might be the same bug, might be a different one... Hard to know. But atm, it look like touching a lot of people going for counter tank with shield. Same here, I don't know if it's a coincidence, but it's starting to look a bit "huge" for only a coincidence. Sadly I'm not a dev to know if it's related or not...
One thing is absolutely sure, that bug did not started with last patch. I'm having this since a bit more than 3 weeks, and I've been speaking with another guy that had the bug since as long as I do. So it's not a patch problem.
Anyway, I'm giving feedback to Wolcen CM!

I'd like to be Community Manager as well, y'a know xD Speaking with people (and helping as much as I can) is one thing I like. But hey, it need to many years of studies in game development that I don't have, and Wolcen probably won't hire a random guy like me coming with "Hey, I know nothing in video game, development and netcode, but I like speaking with people! Can I come with you? =D"

This friend and I had the problem the same day. I don't know if with you and others also started this problem with a loop that returned to the character selection screen after the initial loading of the game creation, because with us it started like this and then evolved to the black screen and continues on it today. When the problem stopped with my friend, he tried to invite me to the matches, but even joining the group, I didn't connect to him at the match, I was still black screen and he told me that I didn't show up in the city. I really believe that the build is coincidence, cause is popular, but the problem show up to differences types of build. So, its new for me that the problem was old than patch release and nothing of the staff feedback annoys me even more after know about that, so ridiculous. How you made to contact with devs?

I changed my nick on forum to Aleph(kalleb.olson), like in game.

Hello, this also happened to me yesterday , the famous "black screen of death " when creating a game . I did solve it on my pc , just by (i think u had done this but i ll just type what i did to solve in my game):

-Task manager closed the game after black screen.Made sure i was running wolcen application, on admin mode on windows.
-Went to steam and verified game files.
-After, i switched from private game to public. it solved on this point(managed to get in ) , but not on private.
-So i switch server from EU (best latency ) to Eu random server, actually i was usually going to london "auto mode" and so i put EU frankfurt.
-Applied this network settings and worked also in private.

It worked for me ..it took me 3h ,but well better 3h than nothing :\

P.S.2: it happened again just now :O

All my online Characters even the new ones are hanging in blackscreen since day 1 of Wolcen. I cant believe this is related to a corrupted item, may be we got two different problems here?

My problem begin after a 2nd floor, with friend we get "Disconnected from the servers". After that we where unable to get to the game in party. We restarted the game, and my friend can create online game, but I cant connect to him or create my own private game.


Things I've tried to resolve this bug:
