Figured out in game stutter issue/performance..
The stuttering in game, online and offline, hitching, lag, whatever you want to call it..
It was due to the free sync monitor being set @144hz and forcing off v sync in radeon software and in game had no fps cap. The radeon software was using some kind of enhanced sync, that has to be set to off and vsync on in radeon, then set v sync on in game while running 60hz on the monitor. I've tested both full screen and fullscreen borderless with no lag.
While the game was set wide open in free sync mode with 144hz what this did was cause the game to run @90fps outside of game action (so sitting still or moving but no combat)
During combat the FPS dipped to 77,80, 83, etc.. Still fast right? But the game had a weird stuttering effect...
To completely remove my in game stutter I forced on vsync and set a fps cap @ 60fps while turning my monitor both in windows settings and monitor settings to cap the hz @ 60hz.
First thing ill say is this game is cpu intensive. I am seeing 60% loads on my i7 3820. Yes an old cpu from 2012 but still works decent. A more modern i5 is a bit better cpu just to give you guys an idea..
GPU is RX 480.
The Rx 480 is not a terrible card.. its 4 years old roughly but since the game isn't so much gpu intensive your biggest lags will be hard drive and cpu/ram issues.
SSD, accept no substitute for your hard drive.. Get one if you game and dont have one..
Ram 16 gigs ddr 3, not a real issue here as the game is so cpu intensive..
If you have worse hardware then what I listed, you still might have some lag issues.
I also want to mention one other thing about lag in this game.
I ran this game on my brothers brand new 3k pc. It is an i7 , 32 ram, ssd, nvidia rtx 2070.
He is using an old monitor that only does 1080 @ 60hz..
When I ran the game with default settings which were maxed everything, vsync on which capped the fps to 60, he had zero stutter/lag.. But the lag he did have, which I have also and I am certain we all have, is when you click accept on an expedition and the game will freeze up slightly for 2-5 seconds while that portal opens... That is something not fixable on our ends. It might have something to do with their netcode or core engine.
I just wanted to mention that along with the 2 sets of hardware so you guys realize that portal/expedition lag is baked into the code of the game/servers whatever..
