No I have the same problem. Can't effectively play the game...

I am in the same situation as you after 2 hours of play. I lost my character.

Yeap same here.I unistall the game and delete the remaining files from steam,re install the game,played for a while ( reached lvl 6 ).If i exit to main menu the character is saved,but if i exit the game and enter again there is no character at all..

same here. lost my lvl 12 char after 5 h of play in offline mode. Checked the save folder. All my characters saved there. Seems the game doesnt read them properly

Same here. Leaving to menu offline character is there, but restarting the game, it is not. Any option to force saving on pc in offline mode? Relevant folder contains online chars only, but online is not playable for me atm.

I'm having the same issue. I made 2 characters already and both of them were gone once I exited and started the game again.

I figured out that there is currently no File in the relevant Savegame folder (C:\Users\Matthäus\Saved Games\wolcen\savegames\characters).

I tried it several times and there is never a savegame file created. Might be the issuse connected to my windows username as it has "ä" letter?

My bf had this exact problem and I just managed to solve it. Like Matthaeus suggested it seems like the folder name containing special letters of the user in C:\Users is causing this issue. Changing foldername solved it for him and Wolcen now can save the characterfile in the correct location, and his characters are no longer gone when restarting the game.

Note that you need to do this from a different user with admin rights (I created a temporary account with no connection to a windows account). I also suggest backing up the files before doing this. If you are the least bit uncertain you can probably wait since a patch will probably fix this issue.

Can confirm that changing your user name fixes the problem. Mine was in Cyrillic.

Some people might have some antivirus software installed that has "ransomware prodtection" by effectively blocking file write operations in the user folders.

An easier solution is to move your saved games folder. Tested and works

how do you move the save file?

It's the save game folder under C:\Users\"your username"
That's where the folder save game folder is.
Right click it - Properties - select the location tab. Select move and put it somewhere else. Your choice

So, I am in the same boat and this is after release. I have no special characters in my name. I have Steam installed @ C:\Steam and most of my profile folders are at D:\users\. I relocated the Saved Games to D:\Saved Games and Wolcen finally created a folder and a couple JSON files, but my character is still not saving.

Is there anything I can do? Unfortunately, I live in the boonies and my latancy is bad online. I wanted to play in offline mode...
