when you create character, the character name will be displayed in game. only when someone add you as friend they need your tag and if it uses your steam name, you can easily change your steam name in steam Edit profile. but dont know if wolcen will update your id

The Game takes a random steam name. It didn't took the actual Steam name i am using. i had erased all previous tags from there. game still using the irrelevant and not existing tag from steam

Same issue. Even this forum used a random personal name when I used Steam to register. Even though my Steam account name and profile name are avatars, Wolcen seems to keep grabbing my personal name from Steam. I changed my display name here, but I would appreciate not showing my personal name on friends list in game.

Same thing - random alias used for Wolcen ID. There does appear to be a Wolcen "tag" in the profile section of the Wolcen account. Given that the account is linked to Steam, it seems that this could be remedied. Currently, I do not know how to get it to work. It reads:

Wolcen Tag To have a Wolcen tag you need to connect your steam account to profile and be logged into the game.

Steam connected... In game... nothing.

Pretty basic. With all of the other bugs in the game, I doubt this will be prioritized.

Yeah, same thing here. I waited to see if they got their servers online, once they did i went ahead and bought the game, only to immediately notice they just arbitrarily used one of my steam names as a permanent ID for wolcen. I knew they used the name.numbers format for friends list and such, but i assume like other games that use permanent IDs they would actually require you to set it on first launch of the game, not just grab one automatically.
Many games on steam use whatever your steam name is as the display name, and many people change their steam names constantly to change the in game display name at any given time, so expecting steams display name at any point in time to be a suitable permanent identifier for someone is kind of silly.

I sent a message to support, and ill give it a while to see, but i cant play like this and will refund if its not changed
