Is fire more powerful than ice and lightning for no reason in particular?
Fire spells are a cliche and I wanted something else - Icy mage.
Background story:
So I have built my mage around Ice Spear and status to go with and I got a lot of problems handling the boss at the end of act 2. This includes some nodes in the passive tree for increased ice damage and added ice damage to spells on gear and trough gems.
Then I have switched to my fireball spell which was quite low level but I caught up quickly by replaying last portion of the act, switched my Tear spell from ice to fire and killed the boss quite easily.
The issue:
So my more leveled(more leveled? is that the proper term?) Ice spear spell was no match for this boss while less leveled fireball even without increased fire damage from the passive nodes and gear makes me think that fire spell is more powerful just because it is a cliche. Can we drop this dogma and make other elements equally viable?
PS: If you have fond memories of a fireball while playing D&D that is fine, but this is not D&D and let us move on.
