Notes from a newbie.

Hi!

I haven't been playing for long compared to most people here, but I have been jotting down notes as I play on some things that would make this gaming experience a little better (for me at least). They're kind of all over the place, but they're all teeeechnically quality of life improvements since they would most definitely improve the quality of my life. Some of these things have likely already been brought up by others. If that's the case, I guess just add my voice to the crowd.

Annoying stuff:

Pure mage builds do much less damage than any basic melee build
They're also practically forced into using Livor Mortis. Which is made worse by Livor's questionable AI. A suggestion for how to control Livor Mortis would be that if Taunt is activated while targeting an enemy, Maw should move to that enemy to cast it. Or, yknow... maybe I don't want to be a summoner. How about some defensive spells instead?

Force Shield doesn't hold up very well when compared to straight health and resists
I find myself forced to use Bruiser gear no matter what build I'm aiming for. Resists and health beat the crap out of force shield in terms of defense. Some balancing is needed here. Maybe also consider adding a gear type with Resist and Force Shield?

Damage type on spells is too limited
For example, there is only one base fire spell. Only five of the seventeen other spells can be modified into fire damage. Two of those five are summon spells. If a player wants to focus on Fire spells, and not be a summoner, their spells are basically chosen for them. That's not exactly engaging.

Add an option for a small inspection tooltip when mousing over items on the ground
I'm sure others have brought this up, but we need a way to tell what an item is without having to pick it up and look at it in our inventory. It doesn't have to be a full list of everything, but at least include damage/defense, secondary stats, and sockets. A way to tell if the appearance has been collected would be nice too.

When "Display Item Type" is enabled, show the FULL item type
"Rogue Boots" instead of just "Boots".

Make breakable/openable objects, and zoning areas more obvious
Most will highlight if moused over, but are barely noticeable otherwise. Some breakable objects don't even highlight when moused over. A lot of zoning areas are practically invisible. Maybe add a tooltip when mousing over an entrance/exit?

Add a way to tell if enneracts have been learned when browsing Demetra's shop
I get that this is only really an issue early on, but it would still be very handy. A way to see new equipment appearances on Mohabi would be great as well.

Expand the keybind options
Allow for ctrl/shift combinations. Let us re-map EVERYTHING, including attack and zoom functions.

The rest
-Change the wording on second wind from "space" to "dodge" (lots of people re-map this).
-Show shrine effects above the health bar like other buffs (unless it's somewhere else and I'm blind).
-Purchasing items should not be possible by left clicking (too easy to accidentally buy things).
-Along with the above issue, please allow a short grace period to re-sell items for a full refund.

Not annoying, but would be nice:

-Add an effect to the model's off-hand while using staves. Maybe change it to match the damage type of your right-click ability?
-Change the tooltip image of spells/abilities to match their damage type when modified.
-Put an actual image of the player character in the upper left corner, and dialogue boxes.
-Add dye options for weapons. And underpants. For science.
-More character appearance customization options. Especially for Males. Females get way more hairstyles.
-Add an item and/or vendor that can change the player character's appearance.
-Add an option to disable film grain effect. I spent way too long trying to figure out what was wrong with my display.

The one bug(?) I REALLY want to see fixed:

Right-clicking things in the inventory window doesn't always register properly. Sometimes it registers as a left-click and picks the item up. This is especially annoying when selling a bag full of items. For the love of god, please fix this!

That's all I've got for now. Thanks for reading. It's been a rocky start, but I have faith in this game. Don't let me down!

good stuff.

especially like the idea for bruiser/sorcerer /rogue on gear for the tooltip.

Its pretty annoying to keep picking up gear that i am not looking for and this would be an easy fix.

Getting on me nerve about the character avatar. I'm an immersion nerd and that's the reason I didn't pick the male character. In the open cutscreen and dialog he's still the beta bald guy no matter what hairstyle I choose for him.

Also sort option.
Search option.
Sell all and favorite item option.
Loot filter.
Customizable FX effect on weapon or completely hide it like armor pieces.
Display number of ailment stacks below target HP bar.
Character slider.
Recipes for combining gems to a higher tier. Transform one type of reagent to another type.
Priority for the last key input you press and execute it immediately.
Respec single passive point.
Physic damage on staff added to spell damage.
Barbershop.
Cooldown for boss ability so they won't spam it like it's their auto attack (notably Yudai teleport or Justicar shield).
More detail tooltip telling exactly what the skill does with number included.
Make enemies hitbox larger (notably flying bat, Lambach tentacle and some breakable objects)
Able to rotate the rings without having to confirm/ cancel nodes selection first.
Able to move the overlay map around instead of fixed center (like in Grim Dawn).
Able to rotate camera view (also in Grim Dawn).

Not a QoL but why an attack have 4-5 damage types but only able to apply 2 status effects? Maybe reduce the maximum ailment stacks but allow it to apply every ailment on the target?
