Endgame is Dominated by Ailment Builds

After playing around with trying to build a pure fire mage crit build past couple days and pure high crit archer today they both pale in comparison to what I can do with stacking a couple dot ailments on one skill (and I'm not even talking about Bleeding Edge/Infinity Blades, which both have broken runes).

Something really needs to be improved to help the viability of pure caster/ranger builds because I'm sure a nerf to BE/IB is coming sometime, but I hope they don't overshoot it for people who like those hybrid/ailment builds.

My concern is soon everyone is going to have lvl 190 or 210 loot or whatever the cap is and all the lower level legendaries/uniques we're saving will be useless or unwanted in the economy later.

loot stop capping stats at lvl 110 or 120 after and you farm unique to upgrade them to legendary to have 10+ stats on gear so no economy will be good

Why nerf Bleeding Edge instead of buffing other builds?

I'm currently running a crit/crit dmg 2h flight of gav build (lvl 70, clearing over lvl100 expeditions) and it basically instakills everything except bosses at this point, which require 2 or 3 throws. But i do get 1-2 hit myself by bosses and some champs when unlucky.
Personally i wish they'd buff everything to bleeding edge levels, so the choice/variety of builds becomes real and not just theoretical. In general though (for bleeding edge too) i wish there was less instakilling going on, both on the players to npcs and npcs to players sides of things. I'd take viable builds that need few seconds to kill stuff but never die from anything over glass cannon cd centered builds ANY day.

I agree on the buff everything else, as variety is sorely lacking. You try to not use bleeding edge, you go into expeditions, but you go back to BE soon after lol
I'd like to see some caster builds that aren't ailment based, or bow types, or dagger melee builds that are competitive to BE.

tho this is a massively valid point, and i would agree with this 99% of the time, in this game, one of its appealing points for me is that u cant just run around doing billions of dmg to everything u see oneshotting them and steamrolling even the hardest endgame maps, im not saying they have to destroy BE IB, but turn it down a notch, while scaling the rest up, the problem for this is how the character attributes and some modifiers like +%dmg will affect BE IB builds, right now the game is all about crits and ailments, but if +% dmg gets reworked or buffed, it would be a global buff to every build, making bad builds good, but making OP builds more OP

When considering nerfing vs buffing one also has to consider that nerfing one OP thing requires way less time/effort than buffing everything else without creating new problems in the process.

Seems a bit selfish to ask the devs to pour a ton of work into buffing all other skills / passives in the name of keeping 1 where it is now. We're talking balance here, the smart choice is to nerf BE / ailments to the level of other skills / passives. Actually, might just need to nerf ailments from what I have seen at this point. Not trying to wreck any builds here but I'm seeing a lot of people wanting to increase the variety of builds but don't want to sacrifice their OP build. I've seen this happen before in other games ... the Power Creep. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see my Thunderstrike rip through demon hordes like butter. However, like many other players, I want a variety of options in which to do this.

Because one build will always be better than everything else, if they just keep buffing the game ends up every build oneshotting everything. This is called powercreep and its not good for the game.

Nerfing one rune leaves resources to rework and fixing other stuff.

It has the same problematic skill modifier of "Increases skill damage per ailment stack on the target" that makes Bleeding Edge so stupid. It's stationary and leaves you vulnerable though so it's not as ridiculous as Bleeding Edge or Bladestorm (again, same modifier) which can do the same while constantly moving, but all still OP.
