Auto attacks feel more effective than abilities
So I'm somewhere in the middle of act 2 ( think it's roughly the middle anyway ), and so far I've had a pretty good time... What does bother me however, is that using a lot of my available skills seem to be a waste of time, and most of the time it gets me killed more often than it helps me.
For most of my playtime I've been using 2 guns, but I've been trying to experiment a bit lately so I've replaced 1 gun with a catalyst. I invested most of the stats into agility since I wanted to be a nimble ranged fighter.. Thought it'd be neat to be able to cast my spells real quick too, however whenever I abilities like that sniper.. deathray thing, it deals like a third of the damage I'd have dealt if I'd simply autoattacked in the time it takes to charge up... Not the mention that you have to stand still during the charge up, making it pretty much impossible to use during a boss fight. The grenade and multi arrow skills have similar damage issues. The only ones i feel are actually helping are the turret and the arrow rain, which just happens to be abilities that are quick to cast and passive deal damage over time... which isn't very engaging.
It's just a bit.. I dunno, under whelming that I seem to drastically underperform whenever I try to actually make an effort and use my abilities, where as simply holding shift + mouse1 destroys most enemies.
Another small thing... Is it just me or do nearly all abilities not use your actual weapons in the their animations? Seems to me my guy would barely be using his pistol if I was relying on skills... either he's summoning a sniper, a magical bow or weird yellow spirit knives... Kinda feels odd.
End of rant :) Would love to hear your thoughts
Oh wait, one last thing... I was thinking of maybe trying some kinda ... arcane assassin themed build, this game doesn't seem to support themed builds very well, but I was wondering if someone could recommend something.
