Difference between online & offline gameplay?

Been happily playing offline, but now that the servers are restored I am wondering what the difference is going online, apart from the obvious other players?

Are the mobs harder if more players are online on a map?
Are drops better if online?
What is planned for online by the devs (if they have said) - seasons like D3 & POE?

Just wondering if the switch is going to be worth it long term.

I don't believe there is a game play difference, outside of multiplayer. The biggest difference is that your character is stored server side when online, and therefore can't be manipulated through editing game files.

I had assumed that my character created in offline mode would be available once I was online again, but apparently not? Is there a way to copy it to the online servers? If not they really should make that clear when creating characters. :(

yea man this is totally fucked up. I already requested to transfer my character to online mode, played almost 30 hours in 3 days for streaming and youtube content. NOW servers go online and voila - I cant use that character online. So you cant trade with other players which will be important if you want to progress more.

For now ill stick playing offline, if there will be no answer and solution soon I am leaving to the next game. I dont care about server issues and bugs but wasting our progress is just a no go.
