Hard time breaking the mold

I am trying to break my own preconceptions of what classes should look like in this game as far as weapons go and skills to complement them. Does a warrior need a sword? Why not a staff and use willpower for spells. Can a dagger wielding build not use a catalyst to use thunderstrke? I just keep running into a mental wall on how to build something new and unique that isn't offered in other games.

Looking to see what different points of view you may offer to make a tanky staff wielding warmage guy. Or even a knife wielding, Livor Mortis summoning master of the magical arts. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. Just trying to change the mold of what other games have created in my own head. 0

I am playing a mix of mage and infinity blades, have lik 170.000 HP at lv74 and kill bosses with 10mil HP in like 6 to 9 sec. I am wielding a dagger and a catalyst but u can use any skill with any weapons when u farm the untained modifier in expeditions. There you can drop items that allows u to cast a specific skill for example u will get a gauntlet that allows u to cast aether jump.

So anything except Summons should be okay now. I dont understand how Summons here work or even scale good.

Just limittest yourself or respec and try again :) And dont forget the power of the jewels!
