How does the passive tree work? Is it bugged?

ok so i just respecced my tree and allocated points into Furious Appetite (the fury regen node) and Belligerent Banner (the fortress charges node that give block chance). They are not connected to each other on the tree as i used the rotate feature. I can only have one active at any time (so i can EITHER regen rage OR gain block charges), depending on how i rotate my tree. See image in link: https://imgur.com/a/hUdXDqQ https://imgur.com/a/szhl4Ml

Does the passive tree have to be one continuous tree to benefit from all assigned nodes or is this bugged?

Yes, everything needs to be connected. 4 skill points to go either way.

Thanks.

its kinda unintuitive, they should do something like diablo 3's Elective Mode. So where by default once you have a path between two sections you can no longer rotate those sections and then 'experienced' players can turn off this 'Elective Mode' and allow it to be rotated.

The unconnected parts are dimmer than the connected parts. It couldn't be more obvious..
