My impressions after returning to play ...

Hi, I am not sure this is the right space for such a Thread, I am sure the mods can move it if it is ill-placed.

Well, as an Alpha/Beta player, I am very impressed with the (near?) finished product. I really enjoyed the Alpha game-play and maps etc, I was less impressed with the Beta stages, which lost my interest.

Impressed with:

1: The graphics: Stunning if you take time to have a look.
2: Diversity: I haven't even started to play this game really and already have about 8 hours of enjoyment.
3: Customization: (lol your spell checker doesn't like the English word Customisation) I am enjoying the way you can customise your character AND that it stays the same even after changing equipment.
4: Immersion: there is a lot of depth and individual attributes which you can delve into, it doesn't mean you have to always go the same way as others. I much prefer to play a game where I can choose they way I progress and how I play.
5: Cut Scenes: I just love the way your character is correctly portrayed during the cut scenes. The cinematics are great.
6: The UI: I have manged to work most things out without having to read an in-depth guide, the Hints and Tips part is well layed out and easy to read/digest.
7:Animation: The character animation is great, I like the way the character actually holds most weapons correctly whilst fighting etc, my only dislike is why the Mage holds their left hand quite oddly in the air whilst holding a stave (non fight scene) it feels like there is something missing.
8: Storyline: I like the way it is presented, it makes sense, and you do get a feel for the interaction between the characters.
9: Music: Suits the current situation, I don't feel it is a powerful or memorable as some (D2 to mention) but it adds nicely to the gameplay (background atmosphere).
10 Sounds: I don't feel that it is annoying, I enjoy the way the wind rushes through cave scenes etc, it is immersion but it doesn't overshadow the game-play. Everything has a solid 'dong' to it..

Ok I don't like:

1: I can't view a group member to see their equipment or skills.
2: The Storyline is a little too long if you already know how exciting the end Game content can be.
3: Attributes: It isn't always clear which stats are better than others (for the individual character) I haven't yet found an in-game explaination about Ailments or what the difference between the differing damage types are , Rend etc. Would be useful for Newbies (like myself)

That's about it really, I am very much enjoying the game, only half way through Chapter 2, still a way to go before I can move into end game content.

I will endeavour to post some more of my thoughts over the next few weeks.

Hi Deathbane,

First of all, it is definitely disappointing that we can't view what other people are wearing, and hopefully they add it as a feature in the future.

As for some of the information you were looking for about attributes and ailments, here is some information from my own internal Wolcen information document:
Attributes
You get 1 point for every attribute per level and 10 additional points that can be spent as you choose (but you don’t get the 10 points for starting at level 1). SELF-TESTED.
At level 90, this gives you 90 points in every attribute and 890 points to spend.
Resetting attributes - The gold cost is your level times 500. SELF-TESTED.
While all attributes increase damage, only toughness provides a defensive bonus, and that defensive bonus coupled with the offensive bonus is larger than any other attribute (even at 920 toughness, since it doesn’t seem to receive diminishing returns like the other three attributes). This is especially true if your gear provides you with additional ferocity, critical chance score, agility, attack or spell cast speed score, wisdom, or ailment chance score. SELF-TESTED.
Toughness provides a larger bonus to health than it does to force shield (seems to be at least 2 times as much without any passive nodes).

Status Ailments
Damage Dealing Ailments:
Bleed (from rend damage)
Poison (from toxic damage)
Burn (from fire damage)
Shock (from lightning damage)

Damage Modifying Ailments:
Weakness (from sacred damage), it decreases the damage dealt by the target
Curse (from shadow damage), it increases the damage received by the target

Crowd Control Ailments:
Stun (from physical damage), though it seems to be broken at the moment, it prevents the target from acting or moving
Freeze (from frost damage), it prevents the target from acting or moving
Stasis (from aether damage), basically a slow that affects move, attack speed and spell casting speed

Note: the ailment applied is always whatever damage type is the highest. If you want multiple ailments up at once, you need to change the base damage type of multiple skills, or take Cabalist - Grievous Afflictions (which allows for two at once). SELF-TESTED.
Note: ailment damage is actually derived from your overall damage, and thus it mostly ignores damage type (so while getting a damage type that matches your multipliers is usually better, getting +to sacred damage will still buff bleed damage).

Note: ailments ignore force shield, unless you take Warlock - Resilience to Corruption.

I hope that this helps and let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks Frat for your informative reply.

I also have a couple of 'stream' friends that are helping me directly as I ask questions.

I am getting along, finished the 'story mode' and I am now delving deep into the real game..
