Need help in Ailment inflicting mechanism

Each hit can only apply 2 types of ailment, how is it calculated?
For example I am using a sword with 3 damage type other than physical
e.g.
60 - 80 toxic (AVG 70)
60 - 90 aether (AVG 75)
40 - 70 shadow (AVG 55)
If in some cases,
my shadow and toxic damage roll higher than aether, I would inflict poison and curse
if toxic and aether roll higher than shadow, I would inflict stasis and poison.
I should be able to inflict all 3 ailment right? Am I correct?
Or the skill has already decided which two aliments can be inflicted based on the highest two weapon damage type before hitting and rolling a damage number? (like only poison and stasis)

You automatically inflict ailment based on 2 highest average damage types - you will always inflict toxic and aether in the case above.
