Chapter IV Conversion Process FAQ

English | Francais | Deutsch

I own Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem on a platform other than Steam or Epic, am I affected?

No. The changes documented in this FAQ are only relevant to players who have characters on the Steam or Epic version of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem. All other platforms are unaffected. The changes documented here are effective from the release date of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem version 1.1.7.0.

Why do my characters need to be converted?

There are three core reasons why we are converting characters and accounts.

The first two reasons come with Patch 1.1.7.0, which affects the game in two major ways. Firstly, it adds new level-specific story content, which requires character adjustment to be experienced as intended, and serves as an introduction to the new end-game mechanics coming with the patch.

Secondly, it brings massive and needed changes to the game's balance in terms of skills, passive skills, and items. While essential to the game’s long-term health, these changes would effectively “break” most high-level characters if deployed without adjusting existing characters and allowing them to “regrow” into the new meta.

The third reason is to address and remedy the multiple segregated character pools that have been present in the game since 1.1.0.0.

What were the different character types prior to this process?

Prior to 1.1.7.0 and this conversion process, there were three different character types in both Offline and Online mode which all existed in segregated character pools or “leagues”: Legacy, Standard and Bloodtrail.

  • Legacy: any character created during Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem’s first year live on Steam, up until December 2020 when 1.1.0.0 was released.
  • Standard: any character created after patch 1.1.0.0 (The Bloodtrail patch, December 2020) in Lords of Mayhem mode. The option to create a Standard character was removed in August 2022 with patch 1.1.6.0.
  • Bloodtrail: any character created after patch 1.1.0.0 (The Bloodtrail patch, December 2020) in Bloodtrail mode. Any character created between patch 1.1.6.0 (August 2022) and 1.1.7.0 will be a Bloodtrail character.

What character types have been converted?

In essence all characters have been converted, but the exact changes depend on the character type and state.

  • Any Standard or Bloodtrail character (Online or Offline) that is over level 45 or has completed Chapter III.
  • Any Standard or Bloodtrail character (Online or Offline) that is under level 45 and has not completed Chapter III.
  • All Legacy characters (Online or Offline) of any level and/or quest progress.

My Standard or Bloodtrail character was over level 45 and/or had completed Chapter III. What has changed for my character?

Account-wide changes:

  • Because all characters are now in the same character pool, all online characters can now play together, regardless of what game type they were prior (Legacy, Standard, or Bloodtrail).
  • All previously unlocked cosmetics, dyes, and pets have been retained.
  • Stormfall city building progress has been reset (except for any completed Mirrormaid Ship projects).
  • War Table progress has been reset.

  • Quest Progress has been set to the beginning of Chapter IV.
  • For Standard and Bloodtrail characters, all existing Inventory, Storage, and equipped items have been moved a to new Chest in Stormfall for retrieval. Their level and stats are unaffected.
  • Several starting sets of items for different gameplay styles have been added to your inventory to get you straight into the action for Chapter IV.

Where are my items?

What does this mean for the future? Will my character be converted again?

This conversion process was a one-time event to enable a smooth transition into 1.1.7.0 and Chapter IV content.
