Can cast it maybe once, upon which my character continues to cast the animation over and over and over. Using the unique shield that permits sacred spell cast, and sadly this is one of the few sacred spells.

Make sure to hold down the button (it's a channeled spell) or use the skill rune that allows u to cast it as a area target spell.
If that does work then it's prob some buggy interaction .
