It happens random, on different soundcards, soundblaster-Z and a dragonfly1.5.
All sound stops playing and I can only hear the character voices (mine and other NPC's).

Update:

GUI sound, like opening a chest and popup sounds are also present. No music and ambient sound, or footsteps.
