What do I think about some aspects of the game so far.

I have only 48 hours of game play but since I'm not a strange with the genre. Current max level with Champion +1 open from expeditions.
I would like to share some things that highly jeopardises the experience. My focus is purely about game play mechanics and here are the three most problematic and game changing things I've encountered so far.

1) While trying to build a dual pistol build, I noticed that there is no option for scape (a effective one), like hybrid range/caster or pure melee does. Phantom Blades doesn't work well to be used as a scape since the animation is too slow when compared with Aether Jump or even Wings of Ishmir so you're forced to play hybrid BUT, here is another problem:
What is the point of dual pistol builds since the pistol as I can see is just used as a requirement in order to use active skills?
The attack speed is too low to be used as a good source of rage generator and spending passive points to rise the attack speed greatly compromises the damage.

2) The same problem about scape and the gear being just a requirement for skills applies to bow builds.

Suggestions:

Scape

  • Dual Pistol: give us a grapple that can be used in the terrain allowing a quick repositioning.

  • Bow: Can be a "Hook Arrow" that could work as the grapple for pistol builds or an arrow skill that makes the character bounce back.

  • Why not 3/4 modifiers to basic attacks?
    More projectiles for bows and pistols that can shot like small machine guns (Uzi) for a short period of time would make the game play way more interesting making the usage of skill more meaningful because in the actual state, it's just a brainless spam based on the resource available.

3) Not able to change forced movement key. This is a huge problem because since you guys decided to allow mobs to spawn behind players it makes difficult to click in the terrain to perform a dodge roll or even just walk without attack a mob or even structures on the map, which depending on the level, it can get you killed easy.

  • Simple: Just allow us to place skills/potions/any other thing whatever hot key we want.

I'll quote something I just read here in the forum from the player Nevuz:

"Letting bow and pistol have his own skills, so that bow has his focus more on survival, poison traps, marking enemies, maybe summoning a pet and pistol has his focus on engineering stuff like turrets, bombs and mines ."

Pistol build + bombs + mines + different kind of turrets would be insanely fun and interesting to play.

And: "It feels a bit weird to summon a bow when using a pistol"
Yes, it does.
It should be more characteristic for a pistol build use its pistols to perform attacks or even something related to pistols, like Havoc Orb (great idea, but just needs some work about the time it takes to fire) but not bows unless you could summon copies of yourself to shoot with pistols.

One thing to mention is the animations on gear. This is awesome that you don't need to pay real money to see a bow/sword/pistol glows in red since it have more fire damage than other types of damage. Very well done team.

Waiting the release with good, and realistic, expectations.
