Not sure why, but Its not really a problem. Just get a couple "Resist only" pieces to compensate and you'll get similar results.

most importantly, get the node that doubles resistances from Chest/Helm and get Heavy armour for those slots.

If you get a truckload of resists on those pieces, you're mostly fine already.
