I often tried to create a "magic" build with 1 hand weapon, but thats not so easy
a 1 hand weapon that generates willpower would be great to imagine new builds
It could be a distant weapon (magic wand)
or a magic melee weapon that could open fun warmage builds because of unlocking all mage spells

If you run a 1H Sword/Axe/Pistol with a Catalyst and stack % transfer speed gems you can have a character that uses a WP/Rage spending combo and just bounce your resource bar back and forth between the two. There are some really good builds out there that utilize this. Someone in this forum posted an Arctic Spear build that does this. I personally have a custom Infinity Blades/Bladestorm build that does this... it's a lot of fun. I call it the Fenix build as it reminds me of the Protoss Zealot from Starcraft.
But yeah, in regards to pure mage builds we are stuck with a staff at the moment.
