O'Maley is a liar...

Since i dropped the other belt, that's the Omaley one with magic find,
I've been farming 187 expeditions with it and call me paranoid if you want,
but it seems that since then, the legendary/unique drop rate are actually
worse than not equipping it. I'd say that it began around 1.0.5.

So I decided to run 30 lvl 187 expeditions full modifier (247% magic find)
(no untainted of course) clearing the whole map of monsters and looting every
chest or loot container. I did 15 with the belt equipped and 15 without. I did
the first level only.

I know that the statistical sample is not very big but i'm trying to describe
the general impression I have since i've been farming with the belt.

PS : Please know that no magic bugs were harmed during this experiment.

Here are the results :

With the belt (character magic find 68.3%) :

Run 7 : 1 legendary
Run 8 : 1 unique
Run 9 : nothing
Run 10 : nothing
Run 11 : 1 legendary / 1 unique
Run 12 : 2 legendaries
Run 13 : 2 legendaries
Run 14 : 4 legendaries
Run 15 : 1 legendary
total without belt : 22 legendaries / 3 unique in 15 runs

Conclusion : O'Maley is a damn liar. Seriously, I think there's something
broken with magic find and the belt. I say that the expedition magic find modifier doesnt
add up to the character base stat while wearing O'Maley's belt. So i'm gonna hold my pants
with something else from now on.

Anyone else had the same experience with this unique?

I think it's additive to the map's magic find, like almost everything else in this game. So there's not too much of a difference between 267% and 315%. Not to mention it most likely works like this: let's say you have 0.1% chance to drop a unique. With 315% magic find it's 0.315% instead. 30 runs are not big enough sample size to test this statistically.

With that said though I wouldn't be surprised if it actually lowered your magic find by multiplying it by the percentage it says, so 267% becomes 129% in your case. The bugs we've seen so far imply the devs are not too precise and deterministic when it comes to numbers and calculations. Which is a bummer as an ARGP is all about numbers and calculations.

yep...the multiplying makes sense...the devs working the late night shift with tired eyes mistaking a + with a * They wouldnt be the first one and I sure wouldnt throw the first rock :)
