Pistols

Is it me or pistols have a "reload" mechanism when firing ?!

i am actually levelling 2 differents Ranged chars . one with a BOW and this one in particular with dual pistols .
however, while i have no downtime between shots with the bow (consistent firing modified by attack speed), it seems like that pistols have a "break" every 4/5 shots (i'm using 2 identical UNIQUE pistols, and none of them have attack speed on them ).
this char is still in the early game (lvl 17) but still ....the whole point of dual wielding guns it to " make it rain "...and right now, i get caught up by mobs that are using that "reload" to get close

Is that normal or am i into something here ?!

From when I tried dual pistol, It seemed to me that rather than there being a set interval between each shot, there was a set speed at which an entire "combo" sequence performed.

I found it really cool. Yeah, downside is there is sometimes an oddly long gap between shots. But on the upside, you get to fire super-fast bursts. As far as I could tell, attack speed still made the entire sequence faster.

humm yeah, i may get it for the "combo" thing , but still that should be just "animation" .
there it is NOT, dual pistol is (and has always been ) a build that requires you to stand still to maximize damage BECAUSE you have a constant and ininterrupted flow of bullets (D3, Grim dawn, PoE...). Damage is lower per pistol, reason why you have 2 to mitigate some of the Dmg loss. IF on top of that you have to deal with a " reload" on each gun which in my case is happening at the same time on BOTH guns since they are identical...(Mark III Lv17 uniques).
