I hope this is a proper area of the forum for the question.
Is there any other use for items you won't equip or upgrade from other than selling to merchant for gold? No breaking down or anything of that sort?

At end game there is options to power up the item and upgrade it from rare to legendary and possibly unique.
So if you find an item that has good stats later on save it for later.
