Gates of Fates suggestion

Hi guys,

I've only played around 15 or so hours as of posting this, and even though I am very positively impressed by the game overall, I have a few gripes with the Gates of Fates a.k.a. the passive skill tree.

I get the main idea, in that there's an inter-connected network of rotating skills you can work with and that you can distinguish their main "theme" through colors, but aesthetically and functionally it's plain and lackluster. Let me explain:

1) I never know which nodes do what until I hover over them. I should not have to memorize them. No one should. My suggestion would be keeping the theme (purple, red, green), but adding some distinctive feature to nodes that are (for example) primarily defensive, offensive, stats, resists, etc.
A visual queue would greatly reduce the amount of time spent navigating through these options and narrows down what your build might be interested in.
Alternatively: just include a search function. Or do both.

2) Related to the above point, I can see that each color is given a class / archetype (ex: Sentinel, Soldier, Scholar), then some flavor text(?) in gray, and just underneath that, some bullet-points that tell you what you'd receive for allocating that node. Not sure if you have plans to change the style, But I am primarily interested in the function / what I'm receiving, so again, a visual queue of sorts (elemental damage bonuses can be written in blue, or have a blue icon, something of the sort)

3) I can't bring up my inventory, character sheet, etc. when I'm in the Gates of Fates. Why is that? This is very important to me, since I could easily check which node complements my gear and attributes more. It's just convenient and doesn't hurt to have.

4) Resetting your Passives (and your attributes for that matter) - I don't mind the cost, but if I made a single mistake (one point I assigned poorly) and I want to rectify that by just removing that one point, I can't - I have to reset all of the passives. Suggestion: include an option to undo your previous level's selection at maybe a 10th of the cost for a full reset? So if resetting all of them would be 500 affinity, resetting the one would be 50. Something along those lines. Same goes to the Attribute reset.

I love the game so far, and I know it hasn't been launched for that long, but it's my belief that more polish and Quality of Life changes are what will turn Wolcen from < Great > to < Legendary >!

Thank you for reading. I really hope the Devs consider the above and accept some of the suggestions. As for the community: let me know if I'm just picky, or if you think differently and why.

P.S. : I didn't post this in the "Quality of Life" section of the forum because this may just be a personal frustration over the novelty of the game at this stage. Pretty sure this isn't the final iteration of Gates of Fates.

Kind Regards,

Klesk

I strongly agree with points 1 and 4. Having these would help A LOT towards improving the passive system imo. The other points you make are also good but I think 1 and 4 make more of an impact. All in all, I like the suggestions!

Hi oiva.lehtinen,

Thanks for the feedback! I know the game is still in its infancy when it comes to smoothing out the edges, but if the good people at Wolcen studios actually listen to their community, they're going to remembered as one of the greats!

Still sane, exile?
;-)

But, yeah, all good ideas, especially #1 and #4. A search function alone would likely solve #1.

Oh god please atleast make it possible to atleast remove last point put in GoF. Sooo annoying to rebuild the whole tree just because the last point was no good.
