Loot protection and locking equipment

  1. With the announcement of uniques being reworked for high end, we need some kind of loot protection that will insure that every player will eventually drop every unique in the game. You decide whether the protection is on the drops themselves or if it could be provided by Zeitgeist or another NPC. She could sell a package for gold or affinity that will guarantee a unique that you haven't acquired or drop yet. It could also be a mission map drop that will guarantee a unique. It could be an incense like the memory echos, etc...There's lots of options.
    If you unique are to become viable for endgame, expect lots of build around them and it would be nice that every player could have the opportunity to run or try these builds at one point.

  2. Could you please put some kind of locking/unlocking mechanism on our gear and weapons that we dont want to destroy accidentally. It is so easy to do mistakes with all the loot manipulation in this game.

This first idea is terrible. These types of games are all about grind. If I could by all the items I need asap I would quit the game. It is supposed to take massive amount of time to aquire all items.

Have you ever tried collecting all items in diablo 2 ? That is how its supposed to be in a game like this.

i'm not implying to collect them all in a week. Personally, I think that the unique drops are way too frequent and it usually drop 3 a the same time. The unique drop rate imho should be lower. And that is from someone who hasnt dropped the Trial even after 650 hours since release.

You like the grind? Then introduce layered RNG for the uniques with normal uniques and the god tier uniques with perfect stats all across that has abysmal % chance of dropping. The god tier uniques could even have an extra magic property added to them.

Quitting playing the game because you've acquire all the items in the game feels strange to me since I'm aplayer and not a collector.

The first idea is definitely an interesting one. As a min/maxer and borderline collector, I definitely get frustrated in certain games when I am hunting for a specific item (usually that I deem best in slot for my final build) and despite many unique drops, I still can't get it. I'm not sure that the first idea would be feasible, and even if it would, I doubt it would have the effect you want (unless the system doesn't kick into effect until max level). I say this because it you get that item that you really want at a lower level, you might not even get it again, and at that point you are stuck with an inferior item in that slot regardless. In general, it sounds like the system would diminish RNG drops in favor of timed drops, which doesn't sound like what most games are heading towards as it disincentivizes playing in higher difficulties as there aren't really larger rewards.

The second feature seems pretty reasonable, exists in other games and I am assuming isn't hard to program in (though I would probably restrict the "are you sure" feature to legendaries and uniques).

that's why I suggested 2 ways to get loot protection. It cant be both otherwise you will end up in the exact situation you're referring to. Personally, I like when drops are not loot protected but the vendors are. So you will continue to drop uniques from monsters or loot container and it can be one you already dropped. Hell, up the price to 2 mil per unique for all I care as long as I know it will be one I dont have.

And it would make Zeitgeist useful rather than being a recycled gear smuggler and gem dealer wanna be.
