My thoughts on wolcen and the futute

HI all,
I really like this game, the art style and the feeling of the gameplay !

I have played for about 240 hours now and I'm lvl 82. The endgame (187 rifts) itself is ok so far, but it is getting somewhat boring.
However, I want to point out some issues, QOL things etc in a quick "list" with some suggestions (if applicable) and want to open this for everyone to add their thoughts and suggestions.

With community effort, we can help you get ideas etc, to make this game truly something amazing !

  • loot
  • doing the hardest content does not reward you with the best items. you get maybe 1 minor upgrade in 20 runs or so.
  • legendaries are just more value in gold for selling. those do not have a real meaning in endgame anymore. crafting your own is better.
  • uniques - well the issues are known for those already

  • multiplayer

  • i'm playing always with 2 friends and pulling a lot of mobs is lagging like hell. sometimes we get disconnected from the server
    this needs to be fixed. In ARPGs you want to pull a ton of mobs together and nuke them
  • doing the 3 level rift and one person disconnects or the game crashes. no one can finish the rift. clicking on the table after killing the boss just opens a new map - which can't be opened because the game thinks there is a rift already in progress...you need to return to main menu to reset..
  • one shots - even with 100k life, 80%+ resistance, 100% block and 75% block efficiency you get sometimes one shot. from who knows what, when trying to kill a champion / boss. Give a death recap on what was killing you for how much damage.
  • levling from 75+ is a pain in the arse. it is slow and you do not get a bonus for playing in multiplayer (atleast i think so)
    if it is intended to be that slow, you really need to think about the future endgame (either use the existing char or add xp bonuses per leage / season to catch up to your "main" faster). because leveling a new character all the way again...is not fun.... (you get around 30 to 40 million xp per level of a 187 rift)
  • there is not really any need for a second char since you can do everything on one char at any time (to be flexible), which i really like.
  • sarsiel mode - is interesting and the chance for some bonus affixes on the gear is great
  • vendor - you need loads of money to roll sockets on items etc, please add a vendor on every map, or let us go back to town.
  • If a player gets disconnected during a map run (chests or wealth omes) and he rejoins, dungeons are no longer accessible for him
  • Maps with bosses can be so much more interesting, however, 187 bosses drop 3-10 items. sometimes even white and blue ones. all of it gets vendored. You mainly do those to get fast productivity...
  • "Uber bosses" i'm not sure if this is inteded or not, but those are "single player right now, even if you are playing in a group. Only the person putting in the map gets a chance to kill those. Make it multiplayer and drop some special loot or rewards or whatever
  • make sure the unique vendor is shown on the map ALL the time
  • after one person dies, the green icon is no longer visible on the minimap if he is ressed. You no longer know where your party members are, which is not good.
  • trading - make it so the chars do not walk around when requesting a trade
  • make the trades more resillient - sometimes it just does not open the trade window even after accepting the trade

  • add a "cancel rift" option or something, to cancel the current activity / rift / map etc, if you encounter progress breaking bugs

  • crafting

  • crafting is interesting and you are encouraged to do crafting, however, crafting materials should be more plentiful, since you need a TON of those, to get an item you want with some decent stats (too much RNG for the amount of resources available)
  • maybe add a smith, where you can pay money to help you with crafting, to get better bonuses or stats you want on the item (this can be pretty expensive tho, since it is targeted for end game or min/maxing) or he can make a specific stat permanent on an item, so you can roll all the other affixes.

  • friendlist

  • the friendlist needs to update EVERYTIME a player goes online, offline, leaves group etc.
  • it is a pain if all your friends are online, but are shown as offline. you need to unfriend and readd them, then you can invite them
  • online friends are always shown as "in main menu" even if they are currently playing or are in your group.
  • make it dynamic , like "in town", "in main menu", "fighting lvl xx boss " something like that

  • keep offline play as is, with mods, cheats etc, so players can test builds before going into multiplayer or just do some fun stuff, which is normally not possible

    • gear
      2h melee weapons do scale with skills, 2h staffs do not scale. 2h staffs are useless and you are better off with 1h and catalyst, since you get way more bonus and sockets
      2h staff should scale with spells and should give a lot of added willpower regeneration. firing 5-10 fireballs and then you are stuck with no willpower is no fun
      some tweaking here and there and this will be good

    • environment
      mobs can fall through the floor / mobs can spawn outside the map / players can fall through the map

-town
- i really like the idea of the town system with building stuff etc. however, for the most part it is completely useless if you already finished all the things.
- the missions do not reward you with a lot of gold or affinity. you get more by just running rifts.
- the gear you get from those missions are just sold and not worth the investment. the missions for crafting materials and gear crafting are good.
- the town becomes just a hub where you start the next rift. nothing more to do. gear / weapon trader does not have anything interesting to sell, the vendor for enneracts has its place, so thats ok. the vendor for sockets is good. you can implement some quests to include the vendors more and get some special loot (really special with some unique affixes or so) so that is worth doing those.
- mandates are a waste of time when you are running through 187 rifts since those are capped at your char level. make them scalable with the rift level and implement those quests there, make it interesting to do and worthwhile.
- extend the town ! i want to see a good town system here and it has potential !! i want to do stuff in town, see what i made, what the buildings i ordered to build do, look like etc. Make it more lively with maybe some random events here and there, just telling some random stuff those NPCs encountered out in the world. Make us want to be in town, with things to do, explore, encounter and not just a "hub" for party play

  • Guild / Covenant /or whatever you want to call it
  • add bonuses for being in own, where you can upgrade buildings and build new ones for more added features etc, but do not make it mandatory to be in one because the stuff you gain is so OP. (there are a lot of solo players out there)

  • Story mode

  • the story mode was very good, my friends an I enjoyed it very much and it was interesting. the bosses were amazing !
    try to involve that maybe into endgame, the areas, the bosses, some random events or special bosses you encountered. (quests / mandates)

    • QOL
    • sell all button
    • favorite list for spells and skills so you can find and swap them more easily
    • add an option to downscale the visible effects of your party members skills. 3 mages in one party is hell of a color explosion and you can't see anything anymore
    • ailment stacks on mobs (but this is already on your list) how many are mine, how many are from my friends, does each player have their own "pool" of stacks or are those accumulated (only one stack of ailments per source possible etc?!)

I probably forgot some points here and there, but those are probably the most "pressing" things I can think of right now. A lot of player gave feedback on Leagues/Seasons already and there are some good suggestions.
Ignore cosmetic changes for now make a solid, enjoyable base game to build on.

Those are my two cents....Anyway- Keep up the good work Wolcen team and I will keep grinding XP!! This is a game I really hope will show us some new, unique stuff !

PS: please let us know which bugs and changes you are implementing BEFORE a patch/update goes live ;)

On top of that please consider to add Fog of War to the mini map/overlay everywhere during a campaign, Having a fully revealed map the game losing a "mystery" which comes from the exploration. I know there is kind of fog of war in randomly generated maps / caves which is amazing but it's not enough. At least add this as a toggle in the menu options.

For that i suggest 170+ runs offer one additional affix and 180+ runs offer + 20% better stats.

Yea it need to improve a lot. See ark survival evolved when they released it was full of glitches with bad optimizations. They released ark survival evolved for nintendo switch so they optimized a lot with a low graphic card. It got smooth. But they changed how the graphic was processed with a lot of lesser data.

  • Guild / Covenant /or whatever you want to call it

They could to create guild points - each guild who close 187-189 in the less possible time it scores X points. The guild with higher score would drop items with +10% affixes boost. And second to 10th guild place would drop items with +5 affixes boost. With a rule if other player join or leave guild after the final result they won't get these benefit.
