Edric Phase 3

First two phases are so simple they're laughable.
Then, all of a sudden, he becomes and unstoppable juggernaut. His AoE takes the entire screen and I just don't have enough dodges to get out of the way consistently.

Any advice? I may have a poorly built character (My passives are set for Survivability, but I use an Artifact and Pistol because melee skills had unimpressive damage).

I'm running the same bulid - and have the same issues - I think there is a severe lack of documentation regarding the skills and synergies and what gems etc. are valuable - for instance - I've loaded up on leech but I don't seem to be seeing that work with the arrows from the sky skill - or what about auto torrent does that work? and the bonus' from the tree for distance on attack - is it the torret that needs to be far away or you as a person - lots of just unknowns for me and no explanations on how things work.....

Had the same issue with a beefy 2handed character, attempt after attempt of getting stomped in the third phase. Then I visited the skill trader and bought the damage shield skill (can't remember the name, I'm at work) and the fight was pretty easy. I know that particular skill isn't an option for your build, but the point is don't be afraid to try something new, it just might work.

I've killed this boss with both a Dual wielding pistol Ranger and a Necromancer. The Necromancer made the fight a complete joke....didn't even get downed a single time.

.....the ranger though!....well, holyshit. I had my passives all set to crit/attack speed, all actives were attacks, with the exception of evade. The key to the third phase is knowing when it's time to use your stamina to dodge, and reading his dive attacks. I found that making him dive specific directions made it easier to avoid his AOE burst after landing, which was basically 1shotting me if I was hit by it. (You can dodge if you react fast enough, but don't waste them.)

Spend the majority of the phase where you can attack him creating space and just pelting him with whatever you got, once you know he's going to jump, run either north or south or east and west, never angled. The bursts out of him should fire out at an angle, leaving you safe. Kept pelting him until he goes into the center and becomes invulnerable. Find "safe spots" which are just spots where the drops happen less, and fend off the trash, while refilling your pots on them. Be ready to dodge the ring AOE. It's rinse and repeat from there.

....I say it's rinse and repeat, but my ranger took somewhere around ten tries before I finally downed him. Main damage was done with an Auto Turret and Basic Attacks.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. It seems like a small thing, but I really appreciate it. I can actually VERY easily respec into necro (not for damage, but I already have the skills, just have to slot them).

Thanks again!

I saw someone else recommend some elemented resist - my resist were way low being health/force shield focused - I'm going to try and buff up my elemental resists and I'll try to follow ttvDRCsyntax's advice.

So respec'ed into about 215 elemental resist points (~19% resist) - and actually swapped out my autoturret and went back to the mark of impurity curse (I had used it the 1st time - but swapped it out on subsequent tries - I died during phase 3 the first time - but didn't know how to revive myself since I swapped out space bar to stand still attack and it stopped the revive from working - it is set to your dodge key apparently - not always space bar). Anyways during that first battle - I didn't have an issue with my golem focusing on Eldric when Eldric was cursed but in subsequent tries without it - I couldn't get my golem to focus on Eldric. I don't know if the curse is supposed to have that affect on the golem - but it seems to be as during my last fight I kept my curse up and the golem was constantly engaging with Eldric - this allowed me to spam him with the wailing arrows dropping significant damage on him - I then cleaned up the little guys with the railgun. One other big note - when Eldric is in the invulnerable shied circle - you can fire off the wailing arrows at him and it appears to actually hit him and you can cancel that phase of his attack - to avoid the nasty stuff from the circle and all those bombs. Was able to beat him first try that way.
**So to recap:

  • Added elemental resists (got up to almost 20% - sacrificed some damage to get there).
  • Cursed Eldric with Mark of Impurity
  • Golem "appeared" to focus on him more while he was cursed.
  • Spammed him with wailing arrows while he was occupied with Golem.
  • Used railgun to clean up trash and keep it off the Golem.
  • Alternated using Aether and dodge to avoid his attacks.
  • Made sure to have enough rage to launch wailing arrows when he went into his kneeling circle.
  • Rinse and repeat. **

Hope this helps someone else.

+% speed worked wonders for me. I was able to just run around the explosions and used leap to get over the full aoe (of course this requires being melee) I'll have to check next time I log on but I'm pretty sure I had a good % of elemental resist as well. just had to log on a bit ago to help a friend (bow/ranger) to kill him for the same mentioned reasons! Edric is a beast lol
