I've been putting points into ferocity, but I am not seeing my crit chance go up in the tool tips on my various skills. This has not just been 10 points at a level up, but more like 30 or so over multiple level ups. I don't want to waste any more points in ferocity if there's a cap.

There are diminishing returns on your point allocation.
For instance at 0 ferocity, adding 10 points might give you 3% crit, but at 500 feroctity those same 10 points will only give you .3% crit.
Those aren't actual values but I'm just illustrating my point. The more points you put into a stat, the less you get back out of it.
