Juggernaut formula breakdown?

I've been using Juggernaut as a purely defensive tool until today, which is apparently all wrong. I have a pretty standard Bleeding Edge build, focused more on Material damage than Ailments and usually crit for anywhere between 150k to 300k with Bleeding Edge. Now I'm finding my Juggernaut crits for anywhere from 1mil to 7.5mil.

I've tried to find info on the math behind the damage, but no one seems to know or agree on anything specific. Any way to figure out the formula used to find it's damage? I'm interested in trying a Shield Shatter style build, but without knowing how to best itemize for it, I could end up way off the mark.

Here is what I know:
-Current damage absorb is around 35k; crits for 1mil to 7.5mil
-Seems to benefit from Frenzied Blows, as I have seen the lowest crits when rage starved.
-Definitely benefits from %Material damage, with baseline physical damage
-Modification Rune for draining Force Shield drains all Force Shield, but only adds about 60% as absorb
-Attempted to test adding about 5x more Force Shield to absorb (From ~5.5k to ~27k) to see if it increased damage, but due to wildly unpredictable damage and no idle target dummy (that I know of) to hit, couldn't verify either way cuz the boss kept breaking the shield before I could fully restore it to drain. The jerk...
-Damage didn't seem to be spread out across all mobs hit. Had a few packs where I crit multiple baddies for 6mil+
-Damage didn't seem to depend on how much shield was remaining when shattered.

Any insights are welcome!
