That modifier deals damage based upon the maximum health of the target that explodes, right? So damage type would not be considered into the damage dealt i think, since it scales only with the target's maximum health and nothing else. I don't think there is any way to increase it's damage and if anything it's typeless damage, but that's OK, that skill modifier is really strong as it is and well worth using for clearing groups of clustered mobs.
