actually found the problem,
you have to play on the same server (for example EU: Ireland) on all characters for it to be shared

ummm... that's a totally bad design on the dev's behalf. There's no way stash should be locked to the location the server is hosted on.
Maybe that's why we've seen all these folks have their stash "dissappear"
