Connection to offline servers causing the game to completely freeze and entire Windows system becomes unresponsive

Running 64 bit Windows 10 Home
CPU: AMD AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Nvidia 1070

While the servers are down for maintenance (I bought the game and didn't know), I tried launching the game and it just hangs there waiting for a response from the game servers. The entire system becomes unresponsive and I cannot even focus "task manager" to kill the application (Wolcen) to return to normal operating conditions. I had to restart my entire system. Please fix this.

exactly same thing happened to me

... but at least after first restart its working ok .... in offline mode only

I'm still unable to do anything. It won't even let me go offline mode. It just maintains focus on the black screen of the game so I can't even alt tab.

I'd love to be able to play offline mode. Hoping its just some config change?
