DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG crash in game.

I'm unable to play longer than about 2 minutes at a time without getting this error that crashes my game. I don't know what to do, or how to fix it. I'm looking for any guidance on how to correct this so that I can actually play.

My Specs:

  • GeForce GTX 1080 Ti on GP102-A GPU
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz

What is your GPU / CPU?

I have read AMD CPU has huge problem with random freezes, and the Nvidia crowd is having issues with frame rates.

Have you checked your temps while game is running?

I'm fairly certain both are unrelated. I updated the first post with my specs.

Just asking, because lots of 1070/1080 users here having big problems with fps/100% load, even my GPU lower end AMD is at 100% load, but no fps issues 50-60 at 4k, 100+ in 1080 but I have had my card crash several times throughout story mode.

Damn, my AMD Radeon R9 380 card is running at 100% as well, but I have no issues with FPS (getting 60fps) or GPU crashing. I am experiencing an issue with my SSD running at 100% causing hang times then booted off the server if playing online. Offline mode hang times still occur but I can resume play after it ends.

Install MSI Afterburner and set the CORE CLOCK -90.
If it works, set a little bit higher, -85,-79, until you find the CORE CLOCK limit.
It only worked for me at -90.

This seems to have solved it for me for now. Not had a crash for hours now.
