+% dmg is really bad in this game, basically if u have +50% dmg on one item, and +10% dmg on another item, u are getting +55% not +60%, in the other hand, crit dmg doesnt work this way, meaning that +50% in item A and +25% in item B is a total of +75%, or at least thats what i understood after reading some posts here in the forum

I'm not expecting a 50% increase in Total Damage just 55pts. The shield states I'm suppose to get "1% of damage each percent of my Physical Resistance" and I have close to 60% Physical Resistance. I should be getting at least 55pts since my weapon has 100+ base damage. But I'm only getting 13pts extra in Total Damage from the shield.

Unless I'm reading the shields description wrong..

so, u have 60% phys resist, this converts into +6% phys dmg, every mod of +% material dmg, +% dmg, and +% phys dmg is already affecting your base dmg, so that 6% is added to the other percentages, lets say u have a total of +50% phys dmg, that +6% will turn into a +3% if im correct.
This system is good and bad, is good because it doesnt allow crazy dmg builds that deal billions of DPS, but is bad because is badly explained in the game and its pretty counterintuitive, same happens to the stat system itself, the fact that no matter what build u use u have to use ferocity as main stat is extremely counterintuitive
