Archion's Teachings (+1 Projectile) question

So if I take this passive, will it lower the damage of the ailments I apply through the projectile skill that I am using?

It seems like it would, since the damage lowers, but I saw someone else say that it doesn't. So I am a bit confused on how it works, and how to read what your ailment damage actually is....

Would love some info... thanks!!

Edit: Or for example, what if I boost projectile damage at a distance? (Safe from Afar) Does that make the ailments damage applied at that distance stronger?

Thanks!

Ailment damage will not be affected. Your ailment stacks will still deal the same amount of damage no matter how low or high your projectile damage is.

This means Archion's Teachings is basically for high Wisdom ailment builds. You will get another projectile that has a chance to inflict ailments.

Well I am just experimenting a bunch... all my physical damage is converted into 50% Rend and 50% poison through passives. I took a node that is +25% physical damage, -10% elemental, and my poison/rend damage did not change at all, which seems weird to me. It was just a generic +physical% damage, so I assumed it would.

Edit: It reads 50% physical damage converted into toxic damage, not poison. I still assumed that would improve my poison ailment damage though. Either the nodes conversion didn't work, or I still don't fully assume exactly where poison damage comes from. I assumed toxic damage...

Edit2: Wow ok so I really don't understand I guess. I just completely took off my weapon with flat physical and toxic damage on it, and my ailment damages did not change at all. If I understand this right, if I am going for purely ailment damage... my weapon just needs "+% bleed/poison damage on it, and material ailment chance score, etc. The actual damage on the weapon/attack won't matter at all?

Bonuses to Physical damage only increase well...Physical damage. Look out for nodes that increase Material damage instead (which is the group name for Rend, Toxic and Physical damage).

There is no such thing as Poison damage. Poison is an ailment, not a damage type. When you poison someone s/he suffers damage over time depending on the number of poison stacks you applied and your poison stack damage.

If you want to increase ailment damage (Bleeding, Poison, Burn, Shock), Cabalist mastery has nodes for that. Total damage bonuses from attributes apply to ailment damage as well.

Your weapon damage/skill leve/bonuses to elemental/material damage etc. has absolutely no effect on your ailment damage.

Yeah, I do see that now. When I put a +20% rend damage gem in my belt though, my bleed damage goes up.

Since I have the passive node 50% physical damage converted into rend, My assumption was +physical damage % would boost rend, therefore boosting bleed. So while I am slowly figuring the damage out, that still leaves me a bit confused, as to why the +20% rend damage gem boosts my blleed.

That should be a change from the Beta. You surprised me as well.
