My thoughts about Wolcen
Hello there,
First of all I really want to believe in this game which has, I think a very good potential.
But in its current state, I would really not recommend it to other players.
Here is my feedback on what sucks currently IMO and needs to be improved:
1. Still too much bugs (monsters in the walls, under the ground, animation issues etc.)
2. The leveling is too long and maps are too much repetitive: it is really boring passed the level 40-45, when you have to do a couple of expeditions for one level and doing so, you do at least the same maps twice. It is even worst after level 60.
3. Lacking endgame modes: Okay, the maps and incenses are pretty much the same as mandates (so pretty much useless), so you just have 2 modes: mandates, which are not that great, because the rewards are just crappy, and expeditions. So you basically just have to repeat expeditions, again and again, rolling between 4-5 types of maps and 4-5 types of enemies. Coupled with a fastidious leveling, this is really not motivating.
4. The unique items are dropping not enough and you generally need to buy them: this removes a bit of the excitement playing this kind of games. Moreover, unique items can't have their sockets re-rolled and they generally comes without any, so most of them are absolutely useless passed level 40, compared to legendary items and even some rare items. First of all, it the sockets could be unlocked this would at least makes them more useful!
5. The dungeon boss are insanely brutal, generally one-shotting you unless you are a full tank.This coupled with their movement speed and skills (like leaping, dashing etc) makes them deadly for softer heroes like rogues or sorcerers. I am still OS with my sorcerer with 75k FF+life and 30% resistance passed level 90 maps. Problem is that he was based on infinity blades and this is basically unplayable, when a single basic attack from a boss kills you...
6. Dungeon boss have too much life passed level 90 maps: it takes long time with a tank to kill them even with a 15k DPS !!
7. Basic attacks still suck: I don't understand the choice of keeping this in a 2020 game, it reminds me Diablo II, not only basic attacks are completely useless but you cannot replace them in the skill bar with something more useful. I'm pretty sure nobody use basic attacks in the endgame.
8. Crafting is too much expensive: removing gems, using dyes, is way too much expensive, compared to the somewhat poor income you have in this game. If costs were cut by 10, ot would really make the experience less painful.
So to sum up, endgame content is repetitive and unbalanced, and leveling is way too long.
Excitement generally coming from unique items has been annihilated because you cannot re-roll sockets and they don't drop, so you have to buy them (lol).
Good points are the nice graphics, audio, some skills are very cool even if not so good (like infinity blades).
It's just my opinion!
