My thoughts about Wolcen

Hello there,
First of all I really want to believe in this game which has, I think a very good potential.
But in its current state, I would really not recommend it to other players.

Here is my feedback on what sucks currently IMO and needs to be improved:
1. Still too much bugs (monsters in the walls, under the ground, animation issues etc.)
2. The leveling is too long and maps are too much repetitive: it is really boring passed the level 40-45, when you have to do a couple of expeditions for one level and doing so, you do at least the same maps twice. It is even worst after level 60.
3. Lacking endgame modes: Okay, the maps and incenses are pretty much the same as mandates (so pretty much useless), so you just have 2 modes: mandates, which are not that great, because the rewards are just crappy, and expeditions. So you basically just have to repeat expeditions, again and again, rolling between 4-5 types of maps and 4-5 types of enemies. Coupled with a fastidious leveling, this is really not motivating.
4. The unique items are dropping not enough and you generally need to buy them: this removes a bit of the excitement playing this kind of games. Moreover, unique items can't have their sockets re-rolled and they generally comes without any, so most of them are absolutely useless passed level 40, compared to legendary items and even some rare items. First of all, it the sockets could be unlocked this would at least makes them more useful!
5. The dungeon boss are insanely brutal, generally one-shotting you unless you are a full tank.This coupled with their movement speed and skills (like leaping, dashing etc) makes them deadly for softer heroes like rogues or sorcerers. I am still OS with my sorcerer with 75k FF+life and 30% resistance passed level 90 maps. Problem is that he was based on infinity blades and this is basically unplayable, when a single basic attack from a boss kills you...
6. Dungeon boss have too much life passed level 90 maps: it takes long time with a tank to kill them even with a 15k DPS !!
7. Basic attacks still suck: I don't understand the choice of keeping this in a 2020 game, it reminds me Diablo II, not only basic attacks are completely useless but you cannot replace them in the skill bar with something more useful. I'm pretty sure nobody use basic attacks in the endgame.
8. Crafting is too much expensive: removing gems, using dyes, is way too much expensive, compared to the somewhat poor income you have in this game. If costs were cut by 10, ot would really make the experience less painful.

So to sum up, endgame content is repetitive and unbalanced, and leveling is way too long.
Excitement generally coming from unique items has been annihilated because you cannot re-roll sockets and they don't drop, so you have to buy them (lol).

Good points are the nice graphics, audio, some skills are very cool even if not so good (like infinity blades).

It's just my opinion!

I think this game is not intended for most people to reach max level (like Diablo 2 and PoE), so a drop off in later leveling speed is fine. I personally think the level curve is fine.
I personally don't agree that crafting is too expensive, but otherwise agree with all your points.

Yes! The longer it takes, the better! I don't wanna be done and bored!

1) They're working on it and it's clearly playable already! (i play offline tho)
2) No, long = good!
3) Endgame is there, can be repetitive maybe but i like it!
4) Uniques are rare = that's good!
5) Dungeon bosses are not that bad, now that the regen is gone, no problem, and if rogue or weak like that, you can have a golem tanking for you!
6) You can get much more dps than that and bosses don't last that long! ;)
7) Basic attacks are... well, basic, you don't use them that often, just sometimes to get some rage.
8) Once again, something you have to work for, and that's good.

All in all, you want everything right now and easy! Easy bosses, fast xp, uniques every minute, everything fixed today, cheap crafting, etc... And you should enjoy having to work hard, because you can enjoy the game for longer!

Sorry I don't think you understood me, i'm not this kind of player that want to be level 90 in 2 days.
What I really meant is that I'm not against long XP as long as there is something changing, but today maps and lack of game modes make it way too much repetitive. So this boredom gives this feeling of long leveling.

Also, I don't especially like easy things , and yeah I've got a rogue with the rocket launcher that kaboom everything, so yeah I know it's possible to get way better DPS, but try to play a sorcerer and you'll see what I mean. Try also a full tank and you also see that.

Also between an unique every minute and an unique every 20 hours that is most of time good for trash can, well.... there is probably a middle way, don't you think ?

Finally working hard does not make the game lasting longer, at least not for me... play Path of Exile, you'll see what I mean, at the end it's the contents (crazily huge in the case of PoE) that makes you play longer, not the fact that you need to work like an ant to get some basic things like new transmog/dyes/gems...

But again it's just my opinion

Just to be clear, POE took well over 6+ years to get to the level of content from when it was in beta. I remember when i first started POE i had "Two" Acts and Level 20 was cap. Grinding act 2 from level 13 to 20 was nuts. Even on release, POE only had 3 acts. So when we discuss release content, I think we need to put apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Not try to compair a game that is polished to a game that is just beginning. And yes i know Wolcen has been in development for about the same amount of time POE has been out. But i also know today's game is nothing compaired to what we had in beta a year ago. So yes there is development.

yes that's true, so let hope that wolcen studio bring it up to the level of a PoE. I really wish it can, as I find it very promising :)
