currently using thunderstrike and it is working a dream i scale cold damage with it and it freezes multiple foes and does very good dps. Also has really nice modifiers let me know what you think if you try this out

I can't say whether it will be effective end-game since I'm only level 24 atm, but so far I've absolutely shredded everything with a Time Weaver build focused on Aether damage, using Annihilate, Infinity Blades and Anomaly for damage, Lightbringer with the Aether damage rune for mobility/escaping being surrounded, and Livor Mortis to distract things and tank for me. I'm trying to find a good Rage-spending attack to dump my Rage and get Willpower back without using the basic attack, and I'll drop either Livor Mortis or Infinity Blades/Annihilate (depending on whether it's ranged or melee) once I do, but so far I haven't found one that has a rune to do Aether damage.

My build is more of a hybrid I guess, with Infinity Blades being close-range and all and my end-goal being switching back and forth between spells and attacks to constantly switch resources with no downtime, but Annihilate is almost as strong as Infinity Blades and you could just avoid the skills based around swapping between spells and attacks and just focus on the Aether damage and Stasis buffs. Anomaly 1shots groups of normal or elite mobs by itself anyway.

lvl 48 atm

using thunderstrike, anomaly went for shock ailments damage 6.7k per tic on full stack also minion is helping me stack those ailments.

Using cold damage to spells(ring) to also proc freeze on monsters.

@Abaddon
I use a bit similar build, With a dagger, and so I can use Havoc orb to regnerate willpower. It have huge rage cost, and it's perfect for applying slow (additional projectile and slow runes)..
I go out of my way to ranger in tree to get 25% more damage on enemies that are slowed! both stais and the slow from havoc orb works wonders.. also the analomy ..

I didn't try Infinity Blades, but I usually stay ranged and nothing can come close to me.. even First act boss can stay slowed to the degree he can never hit me..

I'm around level 70 now, only played offline due to server issues this weekend. I went all in on a mage build and i guess here is my input so far.

The game has diminishing returns. Until level 25ish i went all in on ferocity and noticed my crit chance wasn't really going up anymore against my level and all pieces i was wearing having crit on it. Once i noticed that i started trying to scale the ailment side and survival. I was doing 5/5 toughness and wisdom since that point with random handful of points into ferocity if my crit % dropped below 60ish%. This was the best choice i made. My survival went through the roof and i was able to scale ailments as well. For trash, with my crit so high they just explode via a very fast cast of annihilation or anomaly. Bosses, i can almost always break their guard before they do anything and finish them, if not i can easily move around while they tick a ton of damage as well.

Other things i've noticed. I treated the game like POE where multiple projectiles, beams, anything were only for clearing and don't shotgun/stack. That IS NOT THE CASE in Wolcen. Everything that hits an enemy hurts them independantly. I hit a point where annhilation felt bad until i played around stacking all of the extra beam points. This absolutely skyrocketed my clearspeed and singletarget. I went all in on beams and cost reduction as well as the longer you channel it the more dmg it does. It hits hard, it hits fast and melts stuff.

My other big ability is anomaly with the you can cast it twice. On any big boss i'll drop 2 on them immediately then channel annihilate. This almost always breaks their guard and lets me channel until dead. If they dont die they tick a ton.

On tree i went for all crit, crit dmg, ailment stacking and ailment stuff. Aether all the way. So far it has been very powerful and i'm progressing through endgame very easily.

I hope this all helps! I'm still learning but so far for my first build, no respec at all, i'm crusing and don't feel weak or glass cannon-y at all.
