Full ailment damage rogue build (dagger) - The stinger

Hi, i’m nashka, an old player of hack'n'slash.
For my first character i went full ailment/meIee and ended up, after a few try, making a build i have fun to play and i think not that bad.
It revolve around ailment damage. I am having some fun with it, I thought i would share. I'm currently cleaning mobs lvl 103 while i'm lvl 70 and i can easily go higher, though i got lucky on the loots.

First of all if this build has already been documented please tell me

The build revolves using 6 different ailments with rogue skills, melee skills and the use of %damage nodes to amplify ailment damage.

Stats

  • 1 in ferocity
  • 7 in toughness
  • 0 in agility
  • 2 in wisdom

Personnally i try to have flat 50% ailment score and then i leave wisdom. adjusting only when i'm changing my stuff to stay at 50%.

This tree contains one bugged atm but when fixed it will improves surviability (unbridled rage).

As far as i know ailment damage increase with :

+% damages
+% material (for bleed and poison)
+% elemental (for burn and shock)
Flat stats (4 points for one points in primary stats, 3 for the secondary, 2 for the third and 4 for the last).
Flat or +% toxic/rend/fire/lightning does not work.

Start with Scholar, proceed to cabalist where you take everything except eneract expert and artefact analisys.
Take the furious apetite node in child of fury, then apetite for bloodshed in warmonger. Those two nodes allow a proper rage regeneration versus pack of mobs.
Archion's teaching is the next step in ranger.
Then fatal pact nodes abyssal shaper, go straight and ignore the other nodes.
You will need the time weaver nodes after that.
You can then take sacred oath and selfless courage in praetorian. Just grab slipping shadow on the way to praetorian.
Last take enneract expert and artefact analysis. At this time upgrade what you need the most : shield efficiency, shield block, dmg nodes in siege breaker or warmonger, merciless lethality)

Undribled rage and merciless lethality points can be put ancient fervour nodes from the oracle oif the trinity nodes and concentrated toxins in assassin.
That's how i went through the leveling doing the campaign.

Stuffs

You have to seek fire damage and rend damage. They have to be the two main damage type for their ailments to be applied. I prefer to have rend in first. It deals more damage and by having it first all my spells apply bleed.


*Main hand : *

Daggers :
1 :% poison damage or shock damage,
2 : % critical damage
3 : % critical chance
4 : % ailment score
Socket :
Offensive 1 : Fire damage or rend damage, if needed to be one of the two main damage on your weapon.
Offensive 3 : Genesis stone
Offensive 3 : Genesis stone
It might be better to put alexandrite instead of genesis stone, when you have enough critical chance, to enchance critical damage.

The unique daggers improving poison damage would help a lot.

Off-hand :

Shield with :
1 : High block and efficiency chance
2 : +%damage/material/elemental.
3 : % critical damage
4 : % critical chance score
5 : ailment score.
Socket :
3x defensive II : Alexandrite

For armor and jewell you want to proritize :
Seek stuffs with %block chance in base stats (white one)
1 : +% damage, + % material and + % elemental.
2 : % critical damage
3 : % critical chance score
4 : Rage cost reduction
5 : Thoughness, agility or ferocity depending on what you got. The best being +All attributes.
6 : Ailment score.

The unique chest piece agony improve your ailment damage by 100%. When equipped my ailment gain 1000 damage unbuffed for 30 stacks. (Went from 8300 to 9300 poison).
Unique gloves expurgation helps also a lot with the cc
The unique belt that allow mark of impurity to spread would also help a lot.

Socket :

You want the most defensive 2 you can to have in block eficiency (alexandrite). Genesis stone in support 2 (ailment score) or Alexandrite in support 1 (% critical score) in your jewels.

Gameplay

When levelling phantom blades and avenger turret do the most of the damage. As you level up you obtain good ressource managment against pack of mobs and start to spam slayer's flurry. Getting it easier for you to stack your ailment. Then the AoE damage of your turret and the trail of poison with your phantom blades allow you to stack ailment in a big area.

The rotation is : shout, turret (shock/burn) and one stack of phantom blades (bleed/burn), dash in, evasion (poison) in the middle of the mob, and you dash in again with slayer's flurry (curse/burn). Repeat when evasion is back off cd. Furthermore, blocking an attack put a weakness ailment on ennemy aswell. This 6 ailment gives more damage with immortal offering and curse increase them too.
Because of fatal pact node. You gain 30% damage once you have afflicted 10 weakness ailment, 30% all resistance score when 10 curses have been inflicted and 30% max health each time 10 poison/burn/shock have been applied. Granting you a lot of regeneration and working great with dire juncture node in time weaver.

Concerning the boss, sadly you loose the damage bonus of immortal offering if there is no trash mob near by. Unbridled rage being bugged you cant face fight the boss the whole time, you will be running out of rage. I'm currently level 70 and i need to hit the boss a few times to regain rage every 2 rotation. That's the dangerous part because the moment your material and elemental ailment run out you can die pretty fast.

Concerning my character for an order of idea :

I'm 70 and have 100% block chance, 51% efficiency.
My poison damage unbuff are 10 000 and bleed,burn, shock 9000.
Fully buff i'm around 26 000 for poison and 22 000 for the other three but hard to keep track and i frequently see tick at 34 000. Since the ailment now cc properly my damage tick went to 80 000/100 000 when applying cc. I still need some % damage nodes in the gate of fates.
I'm fighting mob 103 atm and mobs/champion/elite are not a problem at all. Boss takes longer and require patience but i can easily climb

When fixed unbridled rage will allow you to have unlimited rage against boss. The ailment that was reflected to you proc it (tested with heat of battle)

I just came home and heven't played yet. But they fixed the cc on ailment friom what i have read. They just nerfed the rotation speed of bleeding edge and put a cd on the skill with the momentum modifier. Letting 4 or 5 sec of CD after the end of the skill. That should still work. I'll test it out and tonight and tell you.

EDIT : So i tested it. And the cdr hurt too much. The modifier is also bugged atm and don't apply burn. So i came back to an old version, i take evasion instead of bleeding edge. It apply better the stack and there is no down time in the application.

The cc on ailment is huge tho. I deal tick at 90 000 and i don't have merciless lethality yet. It might be good to put the agility point in ferocity and seek some critical chance score on items. I'll edit the guide.
