Whats wrong with TANK build. Bosses and Specials just 1 shot me?

I'm 66lvl Tank (Shield+1h) and trying to do 88lvl expiditions. I have 35k hp, 50% to 100% block chance with 30% efficiency, almost 67% ressist to all dmg types, and i have a lifeleech+hp regen. But 1 swing of a boss, and im dead. Sometimes i cant even see how i died, just insta death. Whats wrong with it? Is Shields so useless?
Its a (Soldier-> Warmonger->Siegebreaker->Child of fury->Cabalist) build.

I had the same thing happen to my Character today. Sad thing is last night it was fine and today I feel as if I'm covered in cardboard.

I could facetank through to 157 missions, but today the "butcher" boss downed me to death for no reason) At the same time i tanked 151 untainted "tank" last boss with ~5-8 sniper adds. Too low hp is the reason i think, but i just don't understand damage mitigation mechanics in this game.

I agree Larry. The mechanics aren't really explained anywhere. I think the issue may be that there are still bugs that we don't know about that are causing the mitigation to stack improperly or not work against certain abilities. I would love to see an actual tutorial explaining how the actual encoding computes it.

I would love to see a Wolcen Dev play on Live and live stream, then we can see if it is us being stupid or a dev making a complete fool of themselves and we then know we are playing paid Beta

The problem here is what most people don't understand is that this game is not diablo 3 and i don't think that you are supposed to be do portals that are so far away from your own level. As a lvl 66 you should do probably lvl 66-75 - do not take diablo 3 as standard.

it arnt rly any diff in item quality stats when its only the ilvl who increase on equipment, equipments still lvl 60.

if it was diff in that, and makes it possible to get lvl req higher then 60 + ilvl actually does give an increase in stat base, it woulda be worth to "slowly climb" but no it arnt, the only diff is that you actually recieve more gold

You realize that you get 10 attribute points and 1 passive point per lvl right? I don't have to tell you that you receive between lvl 60 and lvl 80 +200 attribute points and +20 passive skill points.

Calculate these points in to your build and you will get the idea what the difference it makes by "slowly climbing"

I was a little disappointed with the bleeding edge nerf, however, once I changed the runes to avoid the CD, I was pleasantly surprised! Its just a matter of trying out the different runes, I use Self adjusting principle, wicked swing, orbital strike and Astral Orbit, and find its an excellent combination. SO for those who are mad about it try out the different runes before giving up on the game.
Just my two cents worth.

if it was diff in that, and makes it possible to get lvl req higher then 60 + ilvl actually does give an increase in stat base, it woulda be worth to "slowly climb" but no it arnt, the only diff is that you actually recieve more gold

The level item is rising and you need to turn it on in the settings to display the number. Lvl 60 is only required for use.

you seem to forgot that i wrote "ilvl" that means item level and that increase with the map but it gives like zero increase stat wise on equipment from higher ilvl actually.

Also factor in that you lose stats every level and then you'll realize that a level 60 character has better base stats than a level 80. Stupid scaling attributes scale so horribly that you can't keep up. You can wipe your ass with those 200 attribute points. The passive points barely help either. Bonuses are additive and barely make a difference after a while.

This is not true.
Go find a lvl 60 item and a lvl 70-80-90 item and you'll see the stats slowly going up.

max gear drops at lv126 expeditions. can't roll any higher % or flat dmg stats beyond that.

66% isnt that much, you need to get around 85% to be able to survive in 170+

Hey mate!

I'm playing Tank myself with 1H + shield, lv 66 and doing lv88 expeditions. So our situations are pretty similar =D

Tho, I don't get oneshoted at all. Bosses and Elites sometimes drive me very very low, but it's not oneshot and I have time to react and heal or dodge.
About your stats compared to mine:

I'm currently 45K hp, with 100% chance to block and 55% Efficiency. I don't understand what you're meaning by "50% to 100% chance to block" but you should really aim for permanent 100% block. Reroll your stuff and make it able to be geared by multiples Alexandrites in order to increase block chance, and then block efficiency. 30% is by far not enough at this level.
My resistances are a little bit less than yours, around 55% in average, but it's still running very well with the block chance to balance that.

And then, of course some Elites and Bosses can kill you. But unlike my friends that are playing Mage or Gunner and get oneshoted, we as tank have a small window to take damage before dodging. Still, we need to dodge. You just can't tank that demon laser-beam face to face, you just have a little more time than others to react and dodge around.
And do not hesitate to tempo for you Juggernaut shield, this one make you able to tank anything so use it as much as possible and sometimes just run between cooldowns.

Also, as stuff, if ever you have it, the unique ring Seven Sister Pact is damn powerful imo, giving you life, lifeleech and regen, if ever you have it in stash. It's a bis at our level, in my opinion. And I don't know what your main damage skill is, but I use Bleeding Edge with lifeleech modifier, work very well to tempo and regen between 2 Juggernaut shields.

There is the Gate Tree at the moment, so lv 67 right now, in it's optimal version according to myself only xD
But it's tanking great. Just run your best shield with the hugest block chance, and try to gear shield/helmet/chest with block chance until you reach 100% (I'm 99.9%... True story.) and then go for Block Efficiency, since with 100% chance it will reduce effective damage taken, and will proc Selfless Courage (+25% Resist Score when block) and Sacred Oath (apply Weakness when block). You need Alexandrite as gems only and green "Defensive" sockets at max

Chest and Helmet need to be Heavy, rest is as you like but Heavy > the rest most of the time, still running a few Bruiser and Rogue like shoulders to increase max health. Aim for All Resist Score > Resist in X > Toughness ; Ferocity, Damage in % etc

Tanking is great like this, and damage output isn't bad at all with Bleeding Edge, even nerfed, and with few lifeleech you can just run, agro mass mobs and just spam BE.
