Act 1 Boss Trouble

So act 1 boss i've died a few times at. I tried partying up and we kept wiping at the exact same spot. Phase 1 and 2 are very easy then in act 3 he seems to go super saiyan and i'm just hanging on by a thread the whole time barely able to get any attacks off.

I've never died in game until this last phase of this boss. I can get to the part where he jumps to the middle and sets off explosions then he sets off a huge wave. It seems impossible to avoid that pretty much one shots us. I'm level 21 my build seemed really strong until this point. I have lots of ARPG experience and have never had this much trouble with any boss in any ARPG.

Am I supposed to backtrack to grind out levels? My build is heavily focused on force shield and i have put 1/3 of my points into toughness every level. about 1.5k shield and 1k health but i feel way way too squishy for this fight.

Is there a problem with my build? am i under geared? under leveled? or is it just really hard to the point where it takes 20+ attempts to get it perfect?

No, you need to use your dodge for that ability. Took me a death to figure that out :(
If you dodge towards the boss as the ability is about to hit you you dont take any damage.

that ability isnt the only problem though. The whole 3rd phase im dodging around barely staying alive

From what i remember the AoE he drops in phase 3 was (to me) quite easy to dodge, just ignore the adds as they do less damage then the AoE. Then after the AoE run away from the boss to time the dodge towards him.

If you really cant kill him i can help out if you want. (noax.9604)

So... He can spam about 3 of those whirlwind attacks before you get a single dodge point back. Discounting the mortars (every time those go off a 'ghost' always seems to be standing right where I want to run to so... I autoattack it instead of move. The devs are idiots on that score!!!).

I've tried using dodge, teleport, and other stupidly long cooldown move skills and there's just no way to have enough to avoid that damn whirlwind attack (the timer on that needs to be considerably longer) spam.

There are basic design concepts here that the devs just... completely disregarded, ignored, or purposely overlooked. Movement skills being chief among them (particularly the insane cooldowns on all of them).
