Does the game use auto save system? If so, it only auto save each act or everytime i collect an item, complete an quest objective, move to a new place?
If i switch to online, does it save more often? Because i can't play 2 hours long to reach 1 check point

Is there anyway to know if i reach a checkpoint and the game is saved so that i can go to school without losing a legendary weapon?

Surely it is constantly saving items, gold, XP, etc, it's just act progression that only saves at the checkpoints. Anything else would be terrible.

Like Kerrin said, all items, gold, ect are constantly saved. Only the progression of the game are saved by going into checkpoint.
Make it a habit to put ur items into your stash.

Pretty sure the game just saves the end of acts. It just happened to me twice :
was halfway through act 2, and it threw me back to its beginning when I started playing again, and just did the same for the 3rd one : halfway through it, gone back to the start now....
So I don't know about "checkpoints", or maybe those "checkpoints" are the acts themselves which is kinda annoying....

had that happen to me too, as my game kept crashing all day long until I beat the game...
"fixed" it by using the way points back to town and then returning each time. somehow it then saved that partial progress without having to redo the whole act...
