The only benefit playing online is to have your character and progress saved in the server.As the game will grow and evolve, it is probably that devs will build a trading system for players to exchange and build an economy. However, we do not know when that will happen. Right now devs are working hard to make the game stable

Thats understandable i was just woundering if i should invest some time on my offline character saince new game and small dev team issues will probably take awhile to fix

It depends on you. Creating different characters can be what you are looking for. There are many possibilities to try out builds. If you want to have fun offline then go ahead, but if you want to play online then you need to wait a little bit.
